Volendam Premium Experience from Amsterdam
Experience Volendam in a more complete and memorable way. The Premium Experience adds the cultural highlights and small extras that turn a sightseeing trip into a real day to remember.
Where the Classic tour focuses on a relaxed visit with plenty of free time, the Premium tour adds the things you will actually take home with you: a photo in traditional Volendam clothing and a quiet coffee break with a fresh pastry at a local café.
Your tour starts directly at your hotel, Airbnb or chosen location in Amsterdam. From there, you travel in a sustainable Mercedes vehicle to the harbour of Volendam.
What makes this tour different
The Premium Experience includes everything from the Classic tour and adds the small extras that make the difference between a trip and a memory.
You are picked up directly from your accommodation, travel in a small group and get a more cultural take on Volendam, with a souvenir to bring home.
What is included
The Volendam Premium tour includes return transport in a fully sustainable Mercedes vehicle, hotel pickup from your accommodation or any other pickup place in Amsterdam, and a guided tour at the harbour of Volendam. The Premium experience also gives you a photo in traditional Volendam clothing and a coffee and pastry at a local café. There is plenty of free time to explore the village independently.

Your Journey

Your experience begins at your accommodation in Amsterdam. Your driver arrives at the agreed time and takes you north out of Amsterdam, through open polder landscape, all the way to the harbour of Volendam.
On arrival, your guide gives an introduction to the village: its history as a fishing port, the famous traditional costumes, and the cultural heritage that still shapes daily life here.
During your visit you will step into traditional Volendam clothing for a classic photo, a unique keepsake from your trip. You will enjoy a coffee and a fresh pastry at a local café, walk the historic harbour to watch the fishing boats, and explore the village shops, stalls and waterfront at a relaxed pace.
At the agreed time, your driver takes you back to Amsterdam.
About Volendam
Volendam is one of the best-known fishing villages in the Netherlands. Its colourful wooden houses, traditional costumes and working harbour have made it a favourite of artists and travellers for over a century. Even today, the village keeps a strong link with its past. Many local families still work in fishing, and traditional clothing is worn during festivals and special occasions. The Premium Experience gives you the time, and the small extras, to truly connect with this heritage instead of just photographing it from the outside.
Practical Information
The Zaanse Schans Premium tour departs from your accommodation or any other pickup place in Amsterdam at set times throughout the day. The tour price is per person and is all-in for transport, museum and saw mill access, the guided tour, the photo with calendar and the coffee and pastry. Comfortable walking shoes and a weather-appropriate layer are recommended — the Zaanse Schans is an outdoor site and the Dutch weather is unpredictable. The tour runs in all weather conditions unless official safety warnings apply. Full cancellation and rebooking terms are set out in our Terms and Conditions.
Why Travel with Sustainable Tours Amsterdam
The difference between this tour and a standard bus trip comes down to a few things that matter: you start from your hotel rather than a central meeting point, you travel in a vehicle that carries a fraction of the passengers of a typical coach, and the journey itself is quiet and smooth rather than noisy and stop-start. The Zaanse Schans can get busy — particularly at peak times — but travelling in a smaller group means you move at your own pace rather than being herded through the highlights. Local drivers, electric vehicles and a straightforward booking process per person round out the offer.
