Two iconic destinations, two ways to explore
Our tours take you to two of the most authentic places in the Netherlands, Zaanse Schans and Volendam. Both are within easy reach of Amsterdam, both tell a different story, and both can be visited at your own pace with our small-group, hotel-pickup approach. Each destination is offered in two formats, Classic and Premium, so you can choose the experience that fits your day.
Zaanse Schans tours from Amsterdam
The Zaanse Schans is a working open-air heritage site with genuine 17th and 18th-century windmills, traditional crafts and historic wooden houses along the River Zaan. It is one of the few places in the world where you can step inside a working windmill, see clogs being carved by hand and buy authentic Dutch cheese a few steps from where it is made. The Classic Experience covers the Zaanse Schans in three hours, including the Cheese Museum and the Clog Museum. The Premium Experience adds two more hours, access to a working saw mill, a coffee and pastry break and a photo with a traditional Zaanse calendar.
Volendam tours from Amsterdam
Volendam is one of the best-known fishing villages in the Netherlands, famous for its colourful wooden houses, working harbour and traditional Volendam costume. With its fresh herring stalls, working fishing fleet and wide views over the IJsselmeer, it offers a glimpse of an authentic Dutch village just outside Amsterdam. Both the Classic and the Premium Experience last five hours and include hotel pickup, sustainable Mercedes transport and a guided introduction at the harbour. The Premium adds a photo in traditional Volendam clothing and a coffee and pastry break in a local café.
Classic or Premium, what is the difference?
The Classic Experience focuses on a smooth, comfortable visit with the essentials: pickup at your hotel, sustainable transport, a guided introduction and free time to explore. The Premium Experience builds on the Classic and adds extra moments that turn a sightseeing trip into a real day to remember, such as the saw mill in Zaanse Schans, the photo souvenir, and the coffee and pastry break. Both formats are operated in small groups, with comfortable Mercedes vehicles and pickup from your accommodation or any other location in Amsterdam.
